ABOUT THE BOOK: This book is written mainly on the basis of the CBCS syllabus stipulated by UGC to be taught in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd semesters along with minor alterations by different universities. The main peculiarity of this volume is that it incorporates the practical portion of Non-chordates and Chordates. This part of the syllabi of Zoology is the basic section that every student of zoology must go through. Each chapter of the book is designed to present the syllabi-wise discussion in a brief and scientific way accompanied with relevant diagrams. Almost all sections of the book are accompanied by recent scientific research findings so that the students get acquainted with the recently updated knowledge in respective fields along with stereotype discussions. Therefore it aims to satisfy the urge of the enthusiastic students as well as fill up the lacuna created in the academic as well as research field. This volume encompasses numerous figures which have been drawn by the author himself so that figures appear prim and more scientific and lucid. Each chapter is followed by a set of short, broad and MCQ questions so that the book, in addition to satisfying the academic interest of the students, they can also get help for
competitive examinations also. The book also accompanies the glossary that would help the students to find answers to the short questions. Therefore it is a complete book of academic as well as help book for the aspirant students for competitive examinations.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Dr. Aminul Islam obtained his Ph. D degree from the University of Burdwan in 1983. In 1983 he joined as a full-time Lecturer in Zoology in K. C. College, Hetampur, W.B. From 1984 he has been writing
books on Zoology in Bengali covering syllabi of all the universities of W.B. In 2003, he had an assignment to visit USA as a Visiting Scientist and carried out post-doctoral research works on Molecular Characterization of Esophageal Cancer in VA Medical Centre, Kansas, under Dr. S. Banerjee and Dr. A. P. Weston. During his tenure of PDF, he attended an International Symposium in Orlando, Florida (USA). He came back in 2004 to join his previous service at K. C. College. In 2011, he wrote a book on Cell Biology which has been revised in 2014 and 2018. On 31. 03. 2016 he retired from service as TIC of that college. On 25th July 2016, he joined as HOD, Biological Sciences in the Aliah University. He remained in this position up to 28th February 2018.
