ABOUT THE BOOK: In order to be useful as a reference as well as to allow for differences in content among courses for which it might be used, this book contains enough material that would be included in a term course. The material in this book required no previous mathematical competence beyond very elementary algebra. The data in the examples are intended to demonstrate the biochemical and statistical procedures that will make the students understand and appreciate the subject. Reflecting the magnificent diversity of scientific endeavours that can be found in biological sciences, this book presents a short collection of biochemical calculations and a broad collection of statistical techniques. This book is written for two purposes, one is to emphasize the importance of learning biological sciences along with calculations and the other is to understand this science that requires statistical analysis (actual calculations) being consulted long after formal instruction has ended.
