ABOUT THE BOOK: This book covers nearly 250 classical and as well as contemporary significant name reactions in organic chemistry. In this book, all the name reactions and rearrangements are classified into nine categories (i) General name reactions and rearrangements (ii) Rearrangements involving migration from carbon to electron-deficient nitrogen (iii) Reactions and rearrangements involving Ylides (iv) Elimination reactions (v) Addition reactions (vi) Thermal free radical reactions (vii) Photoinduced free radical reactions and rearrangements (viii) Synthesis of aromatic heterocyclic compounds (ix) Synthesis of different classes of organic compounds. This book is written exclusively based on a detailed reaction mechanism. Special emphasis is given on thorough, critical, and step by step discussions to the mechanistic pathways with support of the mechanistic path by various chemical and physical means including stereochemical support and spectroscopy – this is a unique feature of this book and the presentation of the subject is cited in a newer approach. Synthetic applications and recent significant developments on the name reactions are taken into due consideration. Each name reaction is supplemented with original and the latest references. This book is not only an indispensable resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students but also a good reference book for researchers, professionals, and all chemists interested in name reactions.
